Giant Redwood (Sequioadendron giganteum)

We supply open pollinated seed from the 1977 provenance trial which has been thinned to promote seed production. Provenances include: Black mountain, Giant Forest, McKinley, Mountain Meadow, Wheel Meadow, Whitaker, Nelder and North Calaveras.

Prof Bill Libby from California has had a long interest in this trial, and revisited it in Feb 2007 (see attached photo with Bob Rogers and Lance Freer) This stand is one of a series planted in New Zealand, the others being at Hanmer, Geraldine, Craigeburn, and Rai. Bill rates this as one of the most productive stands in the world for this species, and with the range of provenances, the seed is the most out-crossed available commercially.

All our seed is collected fresh, then processed, extracted, cleaned and refridgerated. Cutting tests are carried out on most seed species to determine percentage. We are able to achieve between 80% and 100% live seed on most species with our cleaning methods.

Should you purchase seed from us you will be assured of prompt service. Your seed will be delivered to you sealed in heavy plastic with the seed data relevant for that seedlot.
